wired! Now don’t get me wrong, there are some instances when a female will act ‘crazy’ but so will a man! The stereotype of a healthy man is quite the opposite from that of a woman which explains why men have been in control and held power in relationships for generations. This all stems from a concept called Power/ Knowledge. The idea of Power/ Knowledge states that the more information you learn the more power you will have. Therefore, power controls knowledge and knowledge gives power. Due to colonization, men gained prominece because they put themselves in control by holding powerful positions within society. This gave men the opportunity to create knowledge and undermind females. So, what does this have to do with you; a woman on the journey to divorce and beyond? Because, if you don’t already have the power, you need to obtain the power to survive! For example, who has the power in a classroom? Of course, the teacher does, so the teacher controls the knowledge. Lets assume a student out of 250 students challenges an answer to a test question. The teacher says, “Great thought, but see me during office hours to discuss that more indetail.” The teacher took this approach because she did not want to loose power or knowledge. Right now, is a crucial time in your life to achieve the power and knowledge and then maintain it so you can not only outsmart your husband but to also turn this nightmare into the best thing that ever happen to you.
You are strong. You are powerful. You are passionate. You are beautiful. You are woman; so girl, embrace it! Fortunately, instead of just the ‘take care’ stereotype women are now taking charge and so WILL you! View your divorce as an opportunity, the beginning of your life, the beginning of your happily-ever after. Do not let anything or anyone shake you to the point that they rob you of your happiness and self- worth. As hard as it might be, disregard all outside influences and focus soley on yourself, your dependent children, and your future!
